# Help — PsychArch Reader

> Get started with PsychArch Reader: open your library, install the web app, send reading from every client, and manage your account.

## Start

### Open your library

[Open Reader](https://reader.psycharch.com/) and sign in with your PsychArch account. Your account must be verified and have access to the Reader application. If access is unavailable, contact your PsychArch administrator.

### Install the web app

Open Reader in your browser and look for its install or add-to-home-screen option. On iPhone or iPad, use Safari's Share menu and choose Add to Home Screen. Installation keeps Reader easy to open on your device.

### Read offline

Open Reader while online first. The web app caches recent unexpired items and keeps opened reading within its cache limit. An item that was never cached will need a connection. Uploads, sign-in, and public share links also need a connection.

## Send

### Upload page

Use the [upload page](https://reader.psycharch.com/upload/) on a computer to save text or Markdown. Choose how long to keep an item; the default is three days. To send files or automate uploads, use the [command line](https://psycharch.com/reader/help/#cli).

### ChatGPT and Claude

Connect your assistant to Reader, then ask it to save a response or reading note. Follow the [setup guide](https://psycharch.com/reader/connect/) for ChatGPT and Claude.

### Codex and Claude Code

To send every reply automatically, set up [Codex](https://psycharch.com/reader/codex/) or [Claude Code](https://psycharch.com/reader/claude-code/). Both guides cover desktop and headless sign-in.

### Command line

Install it from the [Download](https://psycharch.com/reader/download/#cli) page, then sign in and send a file:

```
psycharch-reader doctor
psycharch-reader login --open
psycharch-reader send --file note.md
```

The [command line guide](https://psycharch.com/reader/cli/) covers PATH, remote terminals, the clipboard and credential storage.

### Browser extensions

Install PsychArch Reader from the [Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/psycharch-reader/dnkeglidmpmlbikjpjipbggpephpjpdo), [Edge Add-ons](https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/khbcoiljdpigomcaflcjodgiamneaohp) or [Firefox Add-ons](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/psycharch-reader/). It needs Chrome or Edge 120 or later, or desktop Firefox 142 or later. Your browser keeps it updated.

After you install it, its Settings page opens: sign in and choose how long to keep saves. Then click its toolbar button on any article to save it. If you loaded a development build earlier, remove it first.

### iPhone and iPad

Join the beta through TestFlight from the [Download](https://psycharch.com/reader/download/#ios) page. It needs iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.

In Safari or another app, choose Share → Send to Reader to save right away. In the app, use Paste or Compose. Saving and reading work offline without an account. To sync with your Reader library, open Account and choose Sign in and sync. Account also has retention, download storage, privacy and account deletion.

External images are allowed by default and need a connection. To turn them off, open Account → Reading settings → Allow external images.

### macOS app

Join the beta through TestFlight from the [Download](https://psycharch.com/reader/download/#macos) page. It needs macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon or Intel.

Use its menu bar icon to sign in with your PsychArch account. Copy Markdown or plain text and choose Upload Clipboard, or press `⌃⌥⌘U`. Clipboard access happens only when you request an upload.

### Windows app

Install PsychArch Reader from the [Microsoft Store](https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9P2N4J9NQPC7). It needs Windows 11, and the store keeps it updated.

Sign in from its tray icon. Copy Markdown or plain text, then upload it from the same icon or press `Ctrl+Alt+Shift+U`. Clipboard access happens only when you request an upload.

## Account

### Share with care

A share link is public to anyone who has it. It expires with the item. Avoid sharing private material that you would not want someone else to download.

### End a session

Sign out in Reader to end its browser session and clear private offline copies there. To disconnect Reader access, manage connected applications in [PsychArch Account](https://auth.psycharch.com/account/applications).

### Delete your account

Open Account → Delete account in the iOS app, Settings → Delete Account in the macOS app, Settings → Delete account in the Windows app, or the [account deletion page](https://auth.psycharch.com/account/delete). You will verify your identity and confirm deletion. Deletion applies across PsychArch apps; [Privacy](https://psycharch.com/privacy/#deletion) explains what is removed.

### Contact

Email [psycharch.com@gmail.com](mailto:psycharch.com@gmail.com) for account, installation or privacy help. Do not include passwords or private document content.
